From Colorado to Fukushima to Hirosaki: My Journey as a Scientist in Japan

 

What is it like to move from the United States to Japan and become a scientist studying radiation? In this talk, I will share my journey from growing up in Colorado to conducting radiation research in Fukushima and working at Hirosaki University. Along the way, we will discuss what radiation is, how it affects our everyday lives, and what scientists have learned about the environment following the Fukushima nuclear accident. I will also share my experiences living and working as a scientist in Japan and introduce my current research at the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine, Hirosaki University. No scientific background is required!
