This talk explores how “coming out” became a powerful political strategy in the 1970s gay liberation movement in the United States and asks what its possibilities and limits are today. We’ll look at life “in the closet” before Stonewall, the rise of slogans like “Out of the closets, into the streets,” and the emergence of Pride parades as spaces of both protest and celebration. We will also discuss who can safely be visible, who is left out of mainstream LGBTQ images, and how activists are rethinking visibility, safety, and community in different cultural and social contexts.

 

「カミングアウト」が1970年代のゲイ解放運動でどのように政治的戦略となったのか、その可能性と限界を考えます。ストーンウォール以前の「クローゼット」の状況、プライド・パレードによる可視化と祝祭性、誰が安全に可視化され、誰が取り残されるのか、多様な文脈で検討し、より安全で包摂的なコミュニティのあり方を共に考えます。
